Oh the holidays, such a fun time to have an excuse to dress up. I love a good dress, they’re just fun to put on and make you instantly ready to go out enjoy the evening. My style is very feminine and soft when it comes to sun dresses in the summer, as for holiday dresses it still remains feminine but with a twist of pop and almost a 1950’s influence with shorter lengths, some flair in the skirt, sometimes higher necklines, some dazzle, unique fabrics like taffeta, or maybe an elegant silk. It’s not just the dress that makes wearing it so much fun, it’s the feeling you get from the inspiration of everything that makes you think of the holidays. For me, I think of movies, songs, decor, desserts, champagne, fireside, and so much more the instant I put on a dress and the feeling I get from each different dress. Some movies that inspire me for the holidays include: Love Actually, Serendipity, The Holiday, Miracle on 34th Street, The Nutcracker, The Family Stone, It’s a Wonderful Life, Elf, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, While You Were Sleeping, Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer- Clay Version (reminds me of Christmas Eve as a kid), Just Friends, The Family Man, Christmas Vacation, and of course Home Alone. Some of these movies have more scenes of parties and dressing up than others, but in each way these favorites not only are fun to watch during the holidays, but they inspire me in so many different ways as well from decor, to music, to dress. If I wanted to find every holiday party dress I loved it would take…well, forever. So I narrowed it down a little, and these are just a few that caught my eye. I can just picture each one in a room full of people with champagne, holiday sweets, and Christmas music in the background playing. I do realize Thanksgiving is next week, but for my family & I the holidays start right away so I am definitely already in the spirit with a tree lighting ceremony this weekend, our annual Christmas Cookie Party the night after Thanksgiving, and stores already decorated with holiday decor. So it’s maybe a little early, but not quite. Each polaroid has the link underneath the designer name. Happy soon to be holidays all .*
